  • When I saw Natasha, an intern from Srishti School of Design, Bangalore, interacting with kids of Devrai artists who have come far flung ‘underdeveloped’ areas of Gadchiroli and Bastar to Panchgani, it was an insight into the future growth of India.

    When I saw Natasha, an intern from Srishti School of Design, Bangalore, interacting with kids of Devrai artists who have come far flung ‘underdeveloped’ areas of Gadchiroli and Bastar to Panchgani, it was an insight into the future growth of India... And technology can play a great role in this but how many apps are created to facilitate real learning/ education in comparison to branding and selling of luxury items! All our craftsmen and women have mobiles and I realised it has become so easy to WhatsApp them images of world art to give an exposure to modern sensibility and contemporary taste. Hence you can see Diyari, an iron craftsman from Bastar creating his own concept of a spaceship using a dried gourd! The Dhokra Lamborghini was also one such creation. Sampada is emulating Mandala designs on pebbles with wax threads which after casting turn into Brass! Immense possibilities are knocking at our doors...
